About

Artist

Camille Imperial was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. She discovered her love for dance with Steps Dance Studio, training extensively in ballet, modern, and jazz.  She completed the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, through the penultimate level, with merit and distinction awards. Under a scholarship with Steps, she performed at the Ballet Philippines Homecoming Gala, Awit at Laro mall tour, and C-MAP Choreographer’s Festival International. She also competed in the Philippine Dance Cup, garnering multiple awards with the studio as a team. 

After her time at Steps Dance Studio, she worked as a freelance dancer in Manila, performing in Roberto Villanueva’s “Pieces of Me” as a soloist and with Benilde Experimental Dance. She also trained under the mentorship of James Wong, widening her ability to freestyle and improvise. 

Camille then moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue her BFA in Dance Theatre at AMDA College of The Performing Arts. During her time at AMDA, Camille expanded her training through additional styles such as hip hop, heels, musical theater, and contemporary. She was a part of multiple dance productions directed by Tracy Silver, Gheremi Clay, and Ramon Galindo. She has also successfully collaborated and built strong relationships with AMDA faculty members Genevieve Carson, Stephanie Landwehr, Laura Berg, Stefanie Santiago, Melissa Guerin-Torres, Michelle Loucadoux and more. 

She was a company artist with Los Angeles Choreographers and Dancers where she was a featured soloist and is currently a member of HILA Dance Company, led by Alexander Chung, most recently performing in their showcase. She performed in dances created by Alexander Chung, Cassidy Ratliff, and Kiel Tutin.

Her most recent professional performance credits include Cha Cha in Grease, an all-woman immersive production of Julius Caesar, and Little Red Riding Hood in Camp Fairytale with RWS Global.

Creative

Camille Imperial is a Filipino-American choreographer and creative director based in Los Angeles. She holds a BFA in Dance Theatre from AMDA, and her work blends striking visuals with narrative depth to explore personal and collective experiences. In addition to live performance, she creates dance films and visual projects that translate movement into cinematic storytelling, expanding how choreography can be experienced on screen.

Her directorial debut, The Process of Self, screened at multiple U.S. film festivals such as the Mobile Dance Film Festival, Independent Silent Film Festival, and American Dance Festival’s Movies by Movers.

Camille choreographed and performed in an all-woman, immersive production of Julius Caesar, reimagining the classic through integrated dance which premiered at Heritage Square Museum.

She was awarded the Homegrown Residency by the Dance Resource Center where she created her original work “The Freedom Paradox” which culminated in a live showcase.

Camille received a DCA Performing Arts Division Commission to present original choreography at the Empowerment: Edith + Etta festival in 2025, and she served as an adjudicator for the 2025 Mobile Dance Film Festival.

She is currently on faculty at The Dance School LA, where she teaches ballet, jazz, pointe, and conditioning and is committed to fostering a supportive, inspiring environment for dancers of all ages. In addition to her creative and teaching work, she is highly experienced in video editing, further supporting her practice in dance film and visual storytelling.
